Founding (Cold-solidifying blend, foam models)

Nowadays in production of cast metal made items used new technologies, which are based on modern materials and equipment.

1. Foundry of metal into cold solidifying mix moulds. COLD-BOX-AMIN – technique. This technique is very similar to conventional (foundry of metal into sand-clay forms), but for binding of sand mixes synthetic resins are used. For condensation of synthetic resins core box is blowed by different tertiary amines. In COLD-BOX-AMIN – technique most used are trimethylamine and dimethylamine.

Effect: If inhaled: cough, sore throat, short wind, inhalation difficulty, headache, giddiness, weakness, loss of consciousness, sickness, eyes and respiratory tracts irritation, asphyxiation is also possible, pain in eyes, temporary loss of vision.

Using of dimethylamine and triethylamine in COLD-BOX-AMIN technology on a plant need to be provided cleaning of air on a working area and ventilating emissions. Now available several technologies of cleaning air from DMEA and TEA: absorbing (activated carbon), scrubbers (liquid absorption), biological cleaning, reburning, catalytic, photocatalytic and gas-discharge-catalytic. All these technologies have positive and negative sides.

2. Metal foundry to foam models (by consumable pattern foundry). To use this technique need to prepare cellular polystyrene disposable casts. Than these forms placed to sand filled container, sand is compressed, covered by plastic and container vacuumized (it is made to prevent smoke from model spread to all working area, usually gases are drawed off from container – depression is kept up on approximately 1 atmosphere). Metal that being found melts cellular polystyrene and replaces it and exactly copy foam plastic strickle form.

Air pollutions.

Application of such technology metalware production brings to intensive polluting of air that being drawed off the container. Air that drawed off contains: gaseous products of polystyrene thermal decomposition, aerosol, smoke, smoke black and other substances. All these pollutions are harmful substances, which need to be cleaned and have very poignant smell.

Air cleaning.

Fume models founding equipment producers recommend to set fire to gases which are drawed off. But real operating experience of this technology cause of different reasons showed practical impossibility of recommended cleaning method (flame body presence, necessity of jet attachment, burning instability, combustibles formation instability, CO formation…...)
